Our Post is in a large network of veterans that work together with many veteran groups and organizations. Through the VFW communications and various other sources of information, we are able to stay informed to help all veterans.
The VFW Post 737 is named for Grenville M. Dodge. General Grenville M. Dodge was a very important citizen and part of the history of Council Bluffs, Iowa and our country, in so many ways. The VFW Post 737 Honor Guard is available to offer their services for any veteran. Veterans do not need to be a member of the VFW to receive full military rites from the VFW Post 737 Honor Guard. Please make sure your final wishes are known by your family to have your dignity and honor for your military service preserved with full military rites preformed by the VFW Post 737 Honor Guard.
Veteran families may request full military funeral rites by contacting the VFW Post 737 Commander or request the services of the VFW Post 737 Honor Guard from the Funeral Home Director when making the veteran's funeral arrangements.
We have some events being planned for the year, please check back for information as the dates and events become available.
Among the VFW's most notable legislative efforts in making college education affordable for service members are the signing of the 1944 GI Bill of Rights, the Montgomery GI Bill in 1984 and the Post-9/11 Gi Bill in 2008. The VFW also fought to reinstate military Tuition Assistance.
